After medical school, she matched for her ophthalmology residency at the Kellogg Eye Center of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, which is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 ophthalmology training programs in the country. There her natural surgical talent was quickly recognized and she was labeled by her mentors the “best surgical trainee in over 15 years.” Dr. Choe then landed a highly competitive ASOPRS-accredited Oculofacial Plastics fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. She served on the clinical faculty at the University of Pennsylvania before finally coming to Western North Carolina in 2013.
