Combination Surgery
This is a 64 yo female who had significantly droopy upper eyelids due to dermatochalasis (excess skin) and ptosis (droopy eyelids). She was also interested in pursuing cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Before surgery, she had some swelling in the lower eyelids that was suggestive of a complication from prior filler and that was dissolved by injecting a hyaluronidase with good improvement. After surgery, the patient noticed improvement in both appearance and peripheral vision.
Combination Surgery
This is a 66 yo female who had severe droopy eyelids due to a combination of dermatochalasis (excess skin) and ptosis (droopy eyelids) causing obstruction of her peripheral vision. Her visual obstruction was so severe that she has been taping her eyelids up for years to try to see, but even that was starting to be insufficient to give her the vision she needed to function in her job and day to day life. She underwent upper blepharoplasty and ptosis repair under local anesthesia in the office and afterwards noticed that she didn’t have to struggle and strain to open her eyes to see.
Combination Surgery
This is an 81 yo female who had significant droopy eyelids due to dermatochalasis or excess skin. She also had developed a stern look due to her brows dropping. She underwent upper blepharoplasty surgery and cosmetic brow lift which improved her peripheral vision but also made her brows look more smooth and her eyes look brighter.
Ptosis surgery
This is a 65 yo female who noticed that her eyelids were half shut because of her droopy eyelids. She had a history of wearing hard contact lenses which contributed to the ptosis (droopy eyelids). The patient did not require skin removal and underwent ptosis repair via a small incision in the upper eyelid crease under local anesthesia. After the surgery, she noticed improvement in her peripheral vision but also noted that others said that she also looks happier since her lids were lifted. Here she is only 1 month out and still a little swollen and expected to continue to improve
Ptosis surgery
This is a 78 year old male who had severe droopy eyelids due to ptosis causing obstruction of his peripheral vision. He did not have any visually significant dermatochalasis or extra skin. Thus, small incision ptosis repair was performed and he noted improvement in vision and a natural, “more awake” appearance
Ptosis surgery
This is a 79 yo female who had severe droopy eyelids due to ptosis causing obstruction of her peripheral vision. She did not have any visually significant dermatochalasis or extra skin and did not elect to have any cosmetic skin removal performed. Small incision ptosis repair was performed, and she was very happy with the rapid and easy recovery.
Upper blepharoplasty
This is a 70 yo female who had significant droopy eyelids due to dermatochalasis or excess skin. She underwent upper blepharoplasty surgery under local anesthesia in the office and within a week, was very happy with her experience and the results she achieved
Upper blepharoplasty
This is a 53 yo male who had prior eyelid surgery with a surgeon who was not an oculofacial plastic specialist. He did not get the results he was hoping for and his eyelids continued to obstruct his vision and appeared abnormally swollen and puffy. Dr. Choe was suspicious about a reaction to retained filler as the patient had evidence of retained filler causing swelling of the lower eyelids. The retained filler was dissolved but the upper eyelids remained very swollen and heavy. The patient underwent blepharoplasty surgery and massage was applied to the tissue below the brow which resulted in the expression of a clear fluid. The patient did very well post-operatively with significant improvement in peripheral vision and appearance as Dr. Choe was able to correctly identify and treat the underlying cause of the issue.
